Flying Casual since 2014…

I’m Dave, an avid X Wing Miniatures player. If you’re reading this, you probably are too! I play in events all around the UK and on TTS. I’ve been playing for over 10 years… you’d think I would know better by now!

  • Back in Black

Last weekend, I took a trip to Newport Pagnell to play in the Mandos Autumn Store Championship. Coming off the back of an enormously eventful summer, I was once again in a bit of a quandary as to what to play (stop me if you’ve heard this before…). Since the points change in august, I’d…

  • What I did in the summer holidays…

So much to my shock, the summer is over! It’s been a while since I’ve dropped a new post, so probably a good time to review what’s happened since the last one, as it’s been a very busy summer of Xwing! Just about the time of the last post, season 9 of the Nickle City…

  • Gittin Gudder

Been a few weeks since my last post, because “real life” sometimes has to take priority, and it has been (as they say) “Bastard Hot” in the UK. However, it has given me plenty of time to muse on things. One of the things that’s been on my mind lately can be boiled down to…

  • Expo Wars

The end of May / Early June heralds a stalwart in the gaming calendar – the UK Games Expo at the NEC. It’s the 20th year of the event running, and probably the 11th or 12th year where there is an Xwing presence there. I always try to attend just for the Xwing and usually…

  • What happens in Bromley…

So now the excitement of new points and a new expansion has settled down a bit, I can finally tell you what happened in Bromley at the start of the month! Yes, it’s 3 weeks ago now, but it was the first event I went to after the PAPA Points change (for most of those…

  • P.A.P.A. Spray

Last time we looked at the Legends and Relics pack, this week were looking at the Post Adepticon Points Adjustment (PAPA). Points updates are always like Xwing Christmas, and this update feels like a long time coming! Arriving 4 weeks after Adepticon, and only 5 months the last “points patch” (50p 1.1), expectations are high…

  • Newie Newness!

The points are dead, long live the points! Last week’s XWA Post Adeptacon Points Adjustment has landed and the excitement is palpable! Not only do we have changes to the points of existing ships, but the Legends and Relics expansion is offering a load of new content, including (for the first time in a while)…

  • Things to do at the end of times

We are at the end of days! Well… sort of… despite some terribly enthusiastic hoping on my part, we are still about a week away from the next points update / expansion. This update feels like a reeeeally long time coming, especially since we’ve had STO and Worlds already, so we’re really in the “quiet…

  • “Mystic Dave” Rides Again!

With STO done and Adepticon / Worlds on the horizon, I’m in a bit of a funk. I’m not going to Worlds, so the next “Big” event in my diary is the UK Games Expo at the end of May. Before then, there’s a few store events (including the Mandos Spring Event on the 18th…

  • Sith Taker Open – Didn’t they do well?

So the dust has settled on the Sith Taker Open, which seems to have been the largest and most successful event of the year. 140 showed up to play and my spies in the room say it was a great weekend! Obviously, I couldn’t attend (as I mentioned last time) but there’s a LOT to…
